Willow Class
Welcome! First Steps is our Pre-school at Sampford Peverell C of E Primary School. All Pre-school children are in Willow Class and our aim is to to help them develop confidence and a love for learning whist learning new skills, which can enrich them ready for their school life. We have a lovely indoor and outdoor space and all of our learning spaces encourage independence, heuristic and imaginative play to create all sorts of learning opportunities.
Your child will be taught by Mr Leaman and assisted by Miss Stanbury. Learning in Willow Class is overseen by the Mrs Holland, our Reception Teacher. First Steps caters for children from their 2nd birthday right up until they start school in Reception. We offer a safe, nurturing environment in which each individual child is recognised, valued and supported to achieve their potential through meaningful play experiences. We have a mixture of group, free play and adult guided sessions, offering children the chance to develop the skills they need in life – to explore, to play, to learn, to think, to express themselves and to learn to make friends!
Tapestry is the online platform that we use in Pre-school. It is where we share the learning and activities your child is doing at school so please check Tapestry regularly and add observations of your own. These can be important occasions, fun days out and any learning they do at home.
We have free fruit or vegetables and milk available to the children daily. Your child will need to bring a water bottle into school every day as we encourage them to drink water in order to keep them hydrated and support their learning. They will also need a change of clothing. Please ensure all items are named.
Children attending all day or the afternoon sessions have the option of bringing a packed lunch or having a school meal. For more information on school meals click this LINK.
